Emporiblog - November Full Moon + Total Lunar Eclipse 2022

Image
Hello all!! Don't be confused by the picture, all will be revealed!! This month's Full Moon in Taurus ♉ will be accompanied by a total Lunar Eclipse!! So, with the total lunar eclipse, and a meteor shower to boot, energies are quite fraught this month, and that counts as the energies within you too. This turbulent time is said to activate your inner rebel, that little voice within you that says 'what if we just...' Authority will grate on you, especially if it is misused and power is being abused, and this will prompt you to start flouting the rules. There is lots of incoherent stuff in your mind at the moment, the Moon calls you to surrender that, the eclipse calls you to do so fully and without abandon. Start marching to the sound of your own beat!  We need to shift this out of the way, so that we can align with our purpose. Sitting quietly tonight, letting everything go and embracing what is left will allow you to do this successfully.  You have probably

All Saint's and All Soul's

Image
Hi Guys, Looking at the names of various days of the year at the moment, as we have just had Hallowe'en, or All Hallow's Eve. The 1st November, yesterday, was All Saint's Day, or All Hallow's Day, and today, the 2nd November is All Soul's Day. These are, of course, Christian and Catholic celebrations, mainly recognised in the Western regions. All Saint's Day This was a day set aside to honour those who have been martyred and Canonised in the Christain church, whether they are known or unknown. It is observed by both Western and Eastern churches with Western churches celebrating on the 1st of November and Eastern churches celebrating on the Sunday after Pentecost (the 7th Sunday after Easter.) All Saint's is also called: - All Hallows' Day - Hallowmas - Feast of All Saints - Feast of All Hallows - Solemnity of All Saints  There is some debate as to whether this day was seemingly hijacked by the Christain faith to replace Samhain, although Professor R

Mythological Creatures Series - Gargoyle

Image
Credit - Gargoyle by Joseph Vargo Hi Guys, Continuing our mythological creatures series today with gargoyles! Essentially, a gargoyle is a grotesque carved figure with a human or animal face that projects from the corner of a wall or roof, typically to drain off water, specifically in Gothic architecture. The most notable examples are the gargoyles of Notre Dame. Despite their somewhat terrifying appearance, the origins of the gargoyle are not what you would expect. Created in 13th century France , gargoyles were originally designed to help drain water from rooftops as mentioned above. A trough was cut through the back of the statue which lead to the open mouth of the gargoyle. In some cases, a pipe was threaded through. It is through their original use that the gargoyle happened to get its name. The word gargoyle is derived from the French word gargouille , which came from the noise created by water and air mixing in the gargoyle's throat. The size of the gargoyle also depended
