Emporiblog - Which Witch Are You? Pt I

Hello all!! Today we're going to have a look at some of the various paths a Witch can take. If you're struggling with finding your own path, one of these might resonate with you.

Anyone can be a Witch. You don't have to be a female or have a long line of ancestors, if the path resonates with you, don't ignore it, it's who you're meant to be! There are many different paths within the path of the Witch, I'll do my best to cover them all so I decided to split this into parts so I can cover each path.

A path is quite literally the way you choose to walk. Some Witches draw their energy and power from different sources, this means that their craft is stonger when drawing from those specific energies so let's take a look....

- Green Witch. The Green Witch path is all about nature, how it works and how to work with it. You draw your power from the natural energy of the world and you do your best to keep the balance within yourself and with the nature around you. Green Witches tend to feel more comfortable when they have access to nature, like a garden or local woodlands and fields, those who live in the heart of a city or away from nature try to make their home as comfortable as possible, usually with plants, plants and more plants!  If you find yourself drawn to nature and feel a growing interest in the natural world, then this might be the path for you. For further reading, I suggest this book. (Sorry about the picture, technology is not my friend today!)

- Lunar Witch. A Lunar Witch draws their power from the Moon and Stars. The Moon plays a vital role in Witchcraft but to a Lunar Witch, it's more important than just a time of the month. Like the Lunar Cycle, a Lunar Witches power will change depending on the phase of the Moon, meaning that their magic will have different strengths at different times. Different constellations can also play a role in the energies received. If you feel your craft is stronger at night in the presence of the Moon and Stars or find yourself drawn to them, then it's possible that the Lunar path is the one for you. For further reading, I would suggest this book and any books about the Lunar cycle, constellations and their magicks.

- Kitchen Witch. A Kitchen Witch feels most powerful in the kitchen. Their food is packed with Intention and every ingredient has been carefully selected with a purpose. There's quite possibly a few or more cookbooks there with pages of extra notes and recipes. The Kitchen Witch will know what to make for any event that comes their way, whether they're celebrating a Sabbat or trying to ward away sickness. If you have a love of food and feel happiest in the kitchen, then this path might be the one for you. I'd recommend this book for further reading.

- Hearth Witch. Traditionally, the Hearth is the heart of the home so it's no surprise that some draw their power from their home. Sometimes called a Home or House Witch, those that walk this path are dedicated to keeping their house as their own sanctuary. A Kitchen Witch could also be a House Witch but some prefer to differentiate between the two. If you feel at home or more powerful in your house, there's a chance that the Hearth Witch path is the one for you. Try this book for further reading.

- Candle Witch. A Candle Witch draws their power from candles and their energies. Each candle colour has a specific meaning that you can find here 👉🏻 Candle Magic Colours. A Candle Witch has a candle for everything and more than a few left over! They know what to carve into the Wax to increase the potency of their rituals/spells and they know how to practice safely!! If you are drawn to candles, their meanings and their properties, you could be a Candle Witch! Check out this book for further reading.

- Hedge Witch. A Hedge Witch works closely with nature but isn't necessarily a Green/Kitchen/Hearth Witch although there are a lot of similarities. Hedge Witchery has its roots in Paganism but the path itself is a very Eclectic one. The basis of Hedge Witchery is working with nature and the natural energies of the world and expanding your knowledge of what's around you. Folklore is also very important whether is local or from another part of the world as there can be some truth in a tale. Some Hedge Witches are solitary whilst others don't mind mixing with others. If you feel drawn to all the paths of the Green, Kitchen and Hearth Witch, the path of the Hedge Witch encompasses all of these paths. I'd try this book or any of the authors other works on Hedge Witchery for further reading.

- Ocean Witch. Ocean/Sea Witches gatherer their energy from the ocean, the tide, aquatic life/plants and the beach. This path also links in with Lunar Witchcraft as the Moon consoles the oceans and the tides. All life came from the sea and there is still so much natural energy that flows through the waves into our shores. Many of us collected shells and sea weed on the odd visit to the seaside but some are truly drawn to the ocean to the extent where they visit it frequently or move to be closer to it. If you're like Moana and feel an overwhelming urge to the ocean, chances are you're an Ocean/Sea Witch! For further reading 👇🏻

I think that will do for today to give you time to research whichever path (if any) you've been drawn to! Don't forget that this is part of a series so if I haven't touched apon your path yet, don't worry I'll get there eventually!!

No matter your path, if you find yourself short of supplies, give our store a look and we'll see what we can do for you 😉
