Crystal Wednesday/Mabon

Hello all!! Today's Crystal Wednesday coincides with Mabon so todays post will be Mabon themed!!


Mabon is the Autumn equinox and second harvest festival, during this time, we are giving thanks to the Earth for what it has graciously provided for us. It is celebrated on different days depending on where you live. Mabon is a God from Welsh mythology and is the son of the Earth Mother Goddess Modron.


We'll start off with crystals to use during Mabon as Wednesday is our designated crystal day:

- Amber
- Citrine
- Cat's Eye
- Lapis Lazuli
- Sapphire
- Yellow Agate
- Clear Quartz
- Opal
- Aquamarine
- Adventurine
- Sardonyx
- Malachite
- Hematite
- Moonstone
- Ametrine
- Rhodonite
- Dendritic Agate
- Topaz
- Coprolite
- Cassiterite
- Peridot

If there are any other crystals that you feel drawn to, use those too!!



Now onto none crystal things!!


Colours

If you have a themed Altar, use Candles in your rituals/Spells or wish to decorate, here are some colours to incorporate:

- Brown
- Green
- Gold
- Orange
- Red
- Yellow


Herbs/Flowers

Here's a list of herbs/flowers to decorate with, burn or cook with (as long as it's safe to do so/consume!):

- Bittersweet
- Chamomile
- Marigold
- Rue
- Sage
- Thistle
- Yarrow
- Acorn
- Fern
- Frankincense
- Honeysuckle
- Milkweed
- Myrrh
- Passion Flower
- Pomegranate
- Rose/Rose Hips

If you have any of these trees nearby, you could gather some fallen leaves and twigs (always remember to give thanks!) and use them to decorate or on your Altar:

Animals/Symbolism

As will everything, Mabon has specific symbolism relating to animals and items, let's have a look-see:

- Blackbirds
- Eagles
- Owls
- Salmon
- Stags
- Geese
- Wolves
- Pumpkins
- Oak Trees
- Late Blooming Flowers
- A Cornucopia (traditionally a curved goat's horn but anything that resembles a curved horn will do!)


What to do

Below is a suggestion of things to do on Mabon: 

- Decorate for Mabon

- Do a gratitude ritual/ practice

- Prepare/make harvest foods

- Use this time to balance yourself

- Meditate

- Do Rituals/Spells/Meditations to release what no longer serves you
