Emporiblog - Reiki Introduction

Hello all!! Today's post is an introduction to Reiki and has been prepared by our resident Reiki Master Kerenza as I have no idea what I'm talking about. Kerenza has Reiki courses available, if you're interested, send us a message via our website (Link at the bottom 😉)

Reiki is a form of light touch therapy of Japanese origin. It is considered an energy therapy, and can be performed hands on or hands off.

It is different from other energy healing in that it uses different symbols for healing. These are easily accessible on the Internet, although they are supposed to be arcane in the true sense of the word, and therefore only taught to initiates.

It was first practiced by Mikao Isui in the 1920s, and was bought to the west by Hawayo Takata who was an Hawaiian of Japanese descent.
She only attuned 22 reiki masters, and it is through them that we have our current practice.
Reiki has either 3 or 4 levels, depending on how it is classed.
I only say it has 3 levels, but that might be just me!

- Level one is referred to as shoden level. I teach that this first level is more about self healing than anything else.

- Level 2, only teachable after level 1, is okuden level, this is where you can start practicing on others, gain insurance and start a reiki practice. This is also where distance healing is taught. Case studies are needed to pass this level.

- Level 3 is a master level, only teachable after the first 2 are completed and is called shinpiden level. This is where you learn to teach this lovely therapy to others too.

I hope you've enjoyed this post, there will be more in-depth Reiki posts in the future!!

Blessings,
