Tarot Tuesday - The High Priestess
Hello all!! Today's Tarot Tuesday is The High Priestess!
The High Priestess sits at number 2 in the Major Arcana. It is associated with the element of Water and the Moon.
History
In traditional Decks, The High Priestess was known as Popess or Papess/Papesse meaning female Pope. Traditional imagery shows a seated women with a triple papal crown and holding either a book, keys, sceptre, staff or crosier which are all symbols of the Catholic church. The seated pose with an open book is symbolic of the story of Christ as Mary was believed to be reading when she was visited by the angel Gabriel.
Pictured above....
The purpose of this segment is to help you with your own interpretations.
In the card pictured above, we can see either a woodland fairy or a woodland Fae in a tree surrounded by leaves, with wings that resemble autumn leaves. Her clothing is very minimal and vaguely resembles leaves and whispy branches. She's also holding a skull with a skull nestled above her head and a cluster of skulls beneath her.
Meaning
The High Priestess is mysterious and passive. Your intuition is telling you that things aren't what they appear so, you need to take a step back and re-evaluate the situation and your own hidden talents. If you receive an messages from a higher/spiritual source, trust that message and all will be revealed in time.
Reverse Meaning
A reversed High Priestess symbolises that all is not well within yourself. Information is being kept from you and people are keeping secrets. You must first align yourself before you address others and find out that which is being kept from you.
Everyone has their own interpretation of Tarot. Interpretations differ from person to person.
I hope you've enjoyed this post!! I'm not sure if next week I'll continue with the Major Arcana or do a spread to break it up a bit, let me know in the comments which one you'd prefer!!
Blessings,
