Emporiblog - An Introduction to Altars

Hello all!! Today post is all about Altars!!

I have mentioned Altars in several posts before and those of you who have been on the path for a while or who have grown up with the path will be familiar with an Altar but, those who are just starting out may need a bit more information.

What is an Altar?

An Altar is a sacred space on/in your property dedicated to your path. It can be a:

- Table, big or small
- Shelf/Shelves
- Window ledge (be careful with incense/candles)
- The top of a dresser/draws
- Designated safe outdoor space (be careful of the weather)

What is an Alter for?

An Altar can be for many purposes including:

- Sabbats
- Lunar Phases
- Honouring Deities
- A place to do Spell/ritual work
- A place for you to give thanks
- A place to recharge and reconnect your energies

How to set up your Altar

There is no right or wrong way to do this. An Altar is a physical representation of your practice and no one practices the exact same way. You set up your Altar how you think is best and in what space is available to you. If you work with Deities and have an Altar dedicated to them, listen to what they say about it!

Some people completely change their Altar at different times of the year and others simply add parts to their existing Altar, what you do is up to you!

I understand that not everyone can have an Altar due to lack of space and living arrangements but we have something that can help with that! At Truesouls, we offer a customisable, portable Altar that comes in an easy to store, little wooden box so it can be easily hidden for those who are still in the Broom Closet!

I hope you've enjoyed this post! I will be doing separate posts on common Altar item  to cover them individually so keep your eyes peeled for those!
