Emporiblog - Trust Your Intuition

Hello all! Today's post is about a Witch's most important tool: Intuition.

Intuition is a key part of any craft and everyday life for that matter. Ever had that gut feeling that you need to stop and do something else, check to make sure that the door is locked or take a different way to work or to avoid something/someone because they have a "bad vibe"?

That's your Intuition. You may think that it's pointless or silly but everything happens for a reason and your Intuition is there to guide you. There are countless stories of people trusting this gut feeling and it turned out that it saved their lives.

However, this gut feeling isn't always as dramatic as life and death. It could be for something simple like which Crystal to carry with you to best align with your intentions for the day or to add something to a recipe that isn't in the book. If you work with Deities in your craft, they can add to your Intuition as well as using their own to guide you through your journey.

How to hone your Intuition

Not everyone has a strong Intuition and that's ok! There are ways to improve your Intuition which I'll list below 👇🏻

- Meditation. Meditation seems to be the most popular way to get in tune with your Intuition. It calms your mind to allow you to gather your thoughts and receive messages from higher powers. These messages may hold hidden meanings for your Intuition to decipher. The more you practice, the clearer those messages will be.

- Divination. Divination is all about interpretation. From Tarot to Dreams, everything has a meaning. How you interpret that meaning is down to your understanding and your Intuition. The more you read, the better your readings will be.

- Trust your gut. Everybody has gut feelings. The more you listen to them, the stronger they become. It may start off small like "Did you close the window?" and will eventually grow from a niggling question to an order like ”Take X road instead" you may think it's silly at first but you have these feelings for a reason.

- Listen. And not just with your ears. Pay attention to your surroundings and those around you. Listen to what your head and your gut are telling you.

- Learn to read people. People can have a negative or positive effect on your, depending on their intentions. If you're one of those lucky people who can read Auras then you can save yourself a lot of time and cleansing by avoiding negative people as soon as you enter the room. If you can't read Auras, you can still read the people themselves. Be weary and trust what your Intuition is telling you.

- Be creative. If you have a creative streak, don't ignore it! Creativity is a gift and should be nurtured and expanded. Paint that picture, write that story, decorate that room! Creativity is a great way to practice listening to your Intuition. Harnessing both will benefit both.

- Learn to be still. You can't focus your mind if you're trying to do a million things at once or are surrounded by several people all talking at once. You need to learn to take time out and away to regain your focus and train of thought. Then you can rejoin the situation with a clear head.

There also several books on Intuition building if you want to do some further reading!!

I hope you've enjoyed my little ramble about Intuition. I couldn't think of a topic for today until a thought popped into my head about Intuition and I decided to go along with it!
