Emporiblog - Posting About Other Cultures
Hello all!! Today's post is a little ramble about something that I feel is important and that is about including posts about other cultures!
So far, I've only been posting about Sabbats and have covered very little about what goes on in the rest of the world throughout the year. Believe me, I do feel guilty about this as Witchcraft merges with other cultures, I feel that we should know about the practices, folklore and celebrations of others!
The closest I've come to this is a few of our newer Animal Symbolism posts, however, this isn't in-depth coverage and barely scratches the surface!
I plan to start this inclusion at the start of next year and will do my best to make sure that the terminology and language that I use is correct as I'm sadly not as familiar with other cultures as I should be, which is my own fault entirely. I am interested in what goes on throughout the world so this will be a great opportunity for some research and learning and I want to take you guys with me on this journey!
What Will I Be Covering?
As stated above, I will be covering the practices, folklore and celebrations of other cultures. This will obviously include posts about Closed Practices and I will cover them as in-depth as I can to the best of my understanding. There will also be a Deity series coming to the blog which I'm still not entirely sure how to post. It'll either be an entire pantheon at a time or a randomly selected Deity, I have yet to decide. One thing I am sure about is that there will be a main Deity series and a subseries on lesser known/"forgotten" Deities. I have an idea of what I'm in for here if other pantheons are anything like the Ancient Greek and Ancient Egyptian ones! It is also worth noting that some of the Animal Symbolism posts will cross over with some of the Deity posts.
I am also awear that not all cultures start their celebrations and festivals at the same times as us or go by the same calendar as we do and I may have to post a few days in advance, especially if there's a lot going to happen close together!
I'm especially looking forward to researching folklore! I love folklore and have no problem spending hours on research for this! These posts will be randomly selected but I'll do my best to keep them varied.
If you've been with us from the beginning, you'll know that this blog was formed spontaneously with no plans whatsoever. In hindsight, a plan or a structure may have been a good idea! That's why it's a bit chaotic and higgledy-piggledy but there are tags on the blog that you can use to find what you're looking for or contact us if there's something you want to see!
I hope you've enjoyed this post! I know it's a little short but it's getting closer to Christmas and things need ordering and organising which means that my brain is going to be working overtime!
If you can think of something that you want featured about any of the above mentioned topics, let us know!!
Blessings,
