Emporiblog - Broom Closet - Festive Edition

Hello all!! Get ready for some festive, subtle tips that any Witch can do and that won't expose you if you're still in the Broom Closet!

The festive season can be a trying time for some, with the Christianisation of traditions and the pressure to celebrate Christmas and other traditions of mainstream religions.

I would like to note that you can believe and celebrate whatever and however you like!

However, some people don't have that luxury. Due to local laws or their living situations, some people have no choice but to celebrate what they are told to celebrate, regardless of their personal preferences. So, here are some tips and tricks to incorporate a little bit of invisible Witchery into this holiday season 😉

Tip 1 - Enchanting Decorations

Some tips on enchanting objects here 👇🏻

Now, this one depends on how much time you have and how you usually decorate e.g decorate with family. If you have your own decorations for your own space or have a decent amount of time to yourself, you can get to work enchanting decorations. These enchanments can be for as long as the decorations remain up or you can use them to set intentions for the coming year. I understand that being able to cleanse objects may be difficult so you can use the following methods:

- Energy cleansing. Use your own energy to cleanse

- Using a scented candle. Lighting candles is normally acceptable around this time and some of the "festive" scents actually have hidden meaning e.g Cinnamon and Gingerbread

Tip 2 - Baking/Cooking

This also links in with the last part of Tip 1, I will explain in due course!

Kitchen Witchery is the easiest to incorporate at this time. You can set intentions while preparing food and use ingredients to further these intentions. If you live in a Christian household, then the following tip will benefit you greatly and will link in with Tip 1....

- Bake gingerbread! Gingerbread is an acceptable treat for the festive period but some the ingredients have hidden meanings (link below!). When baking gingerbread, you can set a cleansing intention and, as the smell travels through the home, it'll cleanse the house!

Tip 3 - Make your own presents

If you're a crafty person and have access to materials, making your own presents/cards is a great way to subtly incorporate Witchcraft into the festive season! You can set so many personalised intentions as you go about each present e.g

- Health
- Happiness
- Love
- Money
- Abundance
- Protection
- Fertility (for those who want it)
- Success

You get the idea. It is also worth noting that stars are a somewhat acceptable motif, so you may be able to subtly incorporate a pentagram or 2 into a design!

Tip 4 - Wrap with intention!

This is one of my least favourite things to do. The scissors and the tape always seem to vanish, the paper rips and doesn't want to fold the way I want it to and the cat ends up as a Christmas purrito because they've claimed the paper and refuse to move! The best thing about wrapping is getting to have a tube fight at the end! But I digress.....

Those of you who possess the skills to immaculately wrap presents may appreciate this tip. It's a very simple one that doesn't require anything apart from patience! As you wrap, do it with intention! You can either say them out loud or in your head and repeat them with every fold and you can use the tape to symbolically and literally seal your intentions!

Tip 5 - Know the origins of your traditions

In a previous post (link below) we covered the Pagan Origins Of Christmas!  So technically, Christmas celebrations are full of Pagan/Witch heritage and are hidden in plain sight!

I think I've covered everything! I hope you've enjoyed this post!
