Emporiblog - Which Witch Are You? pt VIII

Hello all!! Welcome to part 8 of our Which Witch series!!

Today we're going to look at 4 more paths, so let's get stuck in...

Solitary Witch

A Solitary Witch is simply a blanket term for a Witch that preferes to practice alone. This can be because of personal preference or because you haven't yet found a group or Coven that you feel comfortable with, but not everyone wants to be in a Coven and that is valid too! You'll find that the Solitary practice is a very personal one as the particular Witch has had to do most of their research by themselves and their practice is not restricted by Coven rules. A Solitary Witch can also be any other type of Witch e.g a Solitary Stitch Witch, a Solitary Water Witch, you get the idea. Research is very important here since there often isn't anyone else to guide the practitioner. If the time comes, a Solitary Witch may eventually find a group or a Coven and that is valid too! If you feel more comfortable alone and prefer to have your craft unhindered, you can call yourself a Solitary Witch! Further reading 👇🏻

Spirit Witch

A Spirit Witch is (as the name suggests) a Witch that centers their practice around spirits and the spirit realms. Some Spirit Witches can easily communicate with spirits without the use of tools but others may need or prefer to use tools e.g Tarot, Runes, Bones etc so some may class Spirit Witchery as a form of Divination Witchery but how you identify is up to you! Depending on the Witch and their Magic, a Spirit Witch can summon spirits (not to be done without serious research and practice), banish spirits or ask spirits for guidance. As a Spirit Witch, you need to be very well versed in spirits so you know exactly what powers you're dealing with so you can keep yourself and others safe! If you have been able to sense and communicate with spirits for a while or are drawn to the spirit realms, chances are that you could be a Spirit Witch! Further reading 👇🏻

Traditional Witch

Traditional Witches are Witches that prefer to practice with already established Witchery and tried-and-true methods. A Traditional Witch will feel more at ease using a pre written Spell book or a Spell that others have already created rather than creating their own, after researching of course! Many Witches start out on the Traditional path with some changing paths entirely as they grow more confident with their craft and some may find that they are drawn to specific paths but prefer to practice traditionally e.g Traditional Green Witch, Traditional Kitchen Witch etc. If a Traditional Witch does create a Grimoire or BOS, it is normally with pre-written Spells but in a more organised and easy to find way instead of having to look through a multitude of books to find specific Spells! If you feel more at home with a pre made Grimoire or a published compodium of Spells, them the Traditional path is the one for you! There are a multitude of books available for further reading on this but this book in particular stood out to me 👇🏻

Tech Witch

Tech Witchery is a relatively new kind of Witchcraft that has only been made possible through advancements in technology. Sometimes called a Virtual Witch or (for those familiar with the Buffyverse) a Techno Pagan, depending on their path of course, will prefer to practice online, in a virtual environment and use technology to document/further their practice. Instead of using books, a Tech Witch may prefer to use blogs or vlogs to gain information. They may also use an app or a computer document as a Book of Shadows or a Grimoire. They may also rely on their phone as, obviously, a phone is portable and easier to carry as we now have access to the whole world in our pockets! In Tech Witchery, you can use online forums/communities and emails to do Spell/intention work. If you're more comfortable with using technology in your craft and find yourself using technology to document your craft (blogs, a website and dare I say it Tiktok) then you could be a Tech Witch! Further reading (I was surprised to be able to find something!) 👇🏻

I hope you've enjoyed this post! I estimate that we have 2 or 3 or maybe 4 (at a push) more posts in this series at the moment!
