Emporiblog - The Clairs
"The Clairs" is a term that refers to a set of psychic abilities and senses. The Clair part of each Clair comes from the French for Clear. I will go into the history of The Clairs in a separate post so, let's have a look at each Clair and see what they mean.....
There are 4 "main" Clair senses and 8 in total (don't worry if you didn't know that, I didn't either!). We're going to start with the most well known Clair:
Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance translates to Clear Seeing. It is also known as the Sixth Sense works with the Third Eye to allow people to see:
- Images
- Colours
- Pictures
- Lights
- Movements
And, at times, things that a person shouldn't necessarily know.
Claircognisance
This Clair translates to Clear Knowing and shares similarities with Clairvoyance in the sense that people with Claircognisance know things they shouldn't do but, unlike Clairvoyance, they don't "see" what they're not supposed to know, they just know without any prior knowledge or logical explanation. This ability can manifest in different ways, from a little nagging thought to a gut feeling that's impossible to ignore.
Clairscentence
If you have this Clair, it means you have Clear Smell. Often confused with Clairsentience due to its similar pronunciation, Clairscentence allows a person to experience odours without the odours or the objects that make them (e.g food, perfume etc) actually being present. Ever thought of a food and suddenly being able to smell it without it actually being there or a person and suddenly smelling their perfume/deodorant?....
Clairsentience
Clairsentience means Clear Feeling. Someone with this Clair will be able to pick up messages with any art of their body without actually touching anything. These messages will present themselves as a physical sensation in the part where they manifest so, it may take a Clairsentient a while to get to grips with this ability.
Clairempathy
Clairempathy translates to Clear Emotion and is very similar to Clairsentience but focuses more on the emotional side of things and the emotional energy a person leaves behind or emits. This can manifest with spiritual messages and/or sensing another's emotions. A Clairempath doesn't feel the emotions of another person within their own body but they can sense them.
Clairtangency
This Clair means that you have Clear Touch. Clairtangency also has another name: Psychometry and means that a person can touch an object or hold it and recieve messages from or through said object.
Clairgustance
If you possess this Clair, you have the Clear Taste ability. This means that a person can taste something when there isn't anything actually in their mouth. If you get a random taste in your mouth without actually having said flavour in your mouth, chances are you are Clairgustant and spiritual realm is sending you a message through taste.
Clairaudience
Usually present in mediums and channelers, Clairaudience means Clear Hearing. Clairaudients can hear sounds, words and noises that others cannot but these messages do not come through the actual ear, they come through the mind and are able to be understood through the Clairaudience ability. A Clairaudient can receive messages from the past, present, future, the spirit realms and Deities.
Can you have more than one Clair ability?
Yes! It is possible for a person to possess one or more Clair abilities at any given time
Can anyone have The Clairs?
To my knowledge, some people are born with Clair abilities, some develop naturally over time and some can learn abilities, but this takes a lot of time and dedication. It is also possible to lose Clair abilities but I am not sure how one might lose them. As stated above, it may be possible to regain them if they are lost.
I will be doing a separate post on how to learn Clairs and strength psychic senses but for now, we're going to leave this here!
