Sigil Activation
Once you've perfected your Sigil method, the next step is choosing how to activate your Sigil and what type of Sigil it is. Allow me to explain...
There are 2 types of Sigils:
- Perminant
- Temporary
Perminant Sigils are obviously for long term or repeated use and Temporary ones are mainly used in spell/ritual work and are often activated by being destroyed. We'll deal with this first....
Method 1 - Destroying a Sigil
If you have a temporary Sigil or just prefere to do this, here are some ways to activate a Sigil by destroying it:
- Burn it. This is the most common method. Either set the paper it's drawn on on fire, burn a bay leaf with a Sigil on it or carve it into a candle and burn the candle, carve into firewood and burn. USE CAUTION WHEN USING FIRE
- Break it. If your draw your Sigil on to something breakable like a piece of slate, for example, you can then break the slate. It also works if you year up the piece of paper with a Sigil on it. BE CAREFUL IF YOU USE THIS METHOD
- Bury it. This one is slightly easier. If you don't have a garden, you can bury it in a plant pot or in a bowl of salt/sand/dirt
- Release into the wind. You can either tear it up before hand or just let the piece of paper blow away as a whole piece. IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO THIS PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE PAPER AND THE INKS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
- Erase it. If you draw your Sigil in pencil or in chalk, you can simply erase it
- Release into water. Moving water, streams, rivers, oceans etc are preferable but any water will do so if you live in the middle of a city, you can flush it down the toilet! IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO THIS PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE PAPER AND THE INKS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
- Foundation/Makeup. If you're a make up wearer, especially foundation, you can draw your Sigil onto your skin with foundation before you blend it in, the same goes for eye shadow
For Perminant Sigils - Placement Ideas
These are for Sigils that are intended be around for a long time or for repeated use. You can put these Sigils anywhere you like or where it best suits them:
- Depending on the purpose, have them burned/transferred on to tools e.g kitchen wear, DIY tools, gardening tools etc
- Put it on your phone case/screen savers/lock screen
- Embroider your Sigils onto clothing/bedding/curtains etc
- Tattoos
- Place onto something that can be placed/moved around the home/garden/desired area
- Put on something you keep on your person or take with you a lot e.g keys, wallet, bags, bottom of your shoes, jewelry etc
- Put it in your BOS, Grimoire, journal
- Bookmarks
How to activate Perminant/Repeated Use Sigils
A Perminant Sigil may need going over from time to time to boost/refresh it's power. I will put Perminant methods in italics and repeated use in underlined, methods that pertain to both will be like this. Let's go:
- Trace/Re-trace in your desired place with moon water
- Use a lit incense and trace the Sigil with smoke or use a herb bundle
- Activate with your voice
- Re-trace the symbol at select time intervals/whenever you feel the need
- Trace the symbol with your finger and repeat a phrase/mantra/spell
- When stirring, trace the pattern with the spoon/utensils
- Meditate with the Sigil either in your hand or in your mind
