Tarot Tuesday - The Star

Hello all!! Today's Tarot Tuesday is The Star!!

The Star shoots in at number 17 in the Major Arcana and is associated with the element of Air and the planet Uranus.

History

The Star card has remained pretty much the same within the major Tarot Decks (Tarot de Marseilles, Visconti Deck etc). In the rare event that it has been changed, the classic image of the nude woman has been replaced by a nude man and/or the nude person in question is actually pointing towards a Star. On the lower part of the Tarot de Marseilles Star card, the iconography depicted a reference to the zodiac sign of Aquarius, of which the card is linked to.

Pictured above...

The purpose of this section is to help you with your own interpretations.

In the card pictured above, we can see a semi nude lady pouring water from a large jug. Her bottom half is clad in blue and her hair is brown. There is a clear night Sky behind her which shows seven brilliantly shining stars. (I consulted star chart's which, surprise surprise, I could not understand) I came to the conclusion that the stars are a reference to either the Pleiades or the Aquarius constellation. There is also a large, inverted 7 pointed Star with a horned skull in the middle.

Meaning

The Star is a very positive card, right side up. It foretells of good health either for yourself or the people involved in the situation you are asking about. If you are in a creative slump or find yourself lacking in motivation, The Star will bring inspiration with it that will allow you to get out of this slump. It also means that good opportunities will come your way, said opportunities will either be expected or unexpected but don't question them! They are meant to be, even if it takes you a while to adjust, ride it out, it'll be worth it. Astrological events and signs will effect you in a positive way and will work in your favour, as long as you know how to harness the energy. It is also a card for spirituality. You are either on the right path or are heading in the right direction. If in doubt, it means it is time to embrace your spirituality if you haven't already. The Star is also a card of hope. Hang on and push through, I know it's tough but this card means that everything will start to work out!

Reversed Meaning

A reversed Star is not so good. It signifies that you have recently missed or are going to miss opportunities that would have been beneficial for you, either by no fault of your own or due to illness. Said illness will either completely come out of the blue or a reoccurring illness will remind you that it's still there, but it will pass. If you are asking about a specific situation, it shows that the outcome will be full of disappointments. If disappointment can be avoided, the other cards will tell you how or at least how to minimise them. The reversed Star also predicts despair, either as a result of any of the above mentioned situations or it will come out of nowhere. You need to brace yourself and not let it overwhelm you, I know it's easier said than done but, it will pass!

Everyone has their own interpretation of Tarot. Interpretations differ from person to person.
