Emporiblog - Working With Demons
Now, in Witchcraft, you can work with a number of different entities, including:
- Deities
- Angels
- Ancestors
- Spirits of Flora and Fauna
- Dragons/Other Mythical Creatures
And Demons.
There are some out there who will say that beginner Witches can't work with any of the above but, I believe that you can work with any of the above, as long as you know what you are doing!!
The first thing you need to know about working with other entities is that is a commitment above all else. You must honour and thank them appropriately and treat them with respect. You must also set boundaries between them and yourself. If these boundaries are not respected, stand your ground and sever ties appropriately.
The second thing you'll need to do is RESEARCH!! Lots and lots of research! Witchcraft in general, isn't something you can just dive into, it is NOT a toy and if you don't know what you are doing, you will hurt yourself and others. Doing research will not only give you knowledge but it will also help you figure out what you are ready for at any given time on your journey.
The third thing you need to know is that whatever entity you want to work with will decide if you are ready or if they themselves want to work with you. They have the right to refuse you and you cannot change this. You may have to work with others first before you are accepted by the ones you want to work with or you may have to gain experience first. You cannot wake up one morning as say "I'm going to work with X, I am now working with them." You need to wait for them to accept you and you need to know what you are doing.
The last thing you need to know, especially with Demon work, is that they are extremely powerful entities and not all Demons are nice and friendly. There are tricksters and harmful entities that will cause problems and will be very difficult to remove from your space.
So, before you try working with any entities, ask yourself the following:
- Do I know what I am doing?
- Are my protections adequate?
- Have I done enough research?
- Am I mentally and physically prepared?
- Can I recognise a trickster/harmful entity and can I remove them if necessary? (Either by yourself or with help)
If the answer to any of these questions is NO, you are not ready and should not attempt what you are not prepared for.
Not everyone will be ready straight away and that's okay!! Some people will have slower journeys than others but it's important to know that no 2 paths are the same. The point of Witchcraft is to come into your power safely, what some people can do in 5 weeks might take you 5 years but do not judge your journey based on someone else's.
So, to recap:
- Don't rush into things
- RESEARCH!!
- Be patient
- Protection
- Accept that this aspect of the craft may not be right for you/right for you at this moment
