Tarot Tuesday - The Sun
The Sun rises at number 19 in the Major Arcana and is associated with the element of Fire and the Sun.
History
The Sun is considered to be one of the most joyful cards in the Major Arcana with traditional imagery including flowers, smiling persons and heavy Sun imagery, with either a face (anthropomorphised) or without. The Sun image is the only constant of the Sun card throughout the centuries with other images like the landscape/background areas, people and flowers changing from Deck to Deck. With this imagery, it is easy to see why an upright Sun is a very positive card.

In the card pictured above, we can see a female gargoyle like figure atop a dark foreboding, gothic building (think Notre Dame). The figure has the face of a gargoyle with winged arms and the stone extends to her chest. Her clothing is tatty and torn and poorly fitting. If we look closely, we can see that she has flesh from her breasts down to her knees where her lower legs and feet have turned to stone like a gargoyle's. She is also standing on top of a cracked gargoyle. In the background, we can see the solar equivalent of a blood moon witch is casting a red hue over the scenery. It also appears that there is a solar eclipse.
Meaning
An upright Sun is a very positive card! Whatever you are asking about, the outcome will be positive. It foretells of enlightenment, the answers you are seeking will be revealed to you and everything will fall into place. You will experience a period of joy and happiness, both material and emotional. If you are asking about something specific, the outcome will be joyous and happy. If you are specifically asked about a romantic relationship, it means that you are either heading for a happy marriage or you are already in a happy union. If you are asking about some kind of venture (business/personal), said venture will be successful, either straight away or in time. At the moment, you either have vitality or will come into it as it will allow you to harness the positive energy of the Sun to move forward!
Reversed Meaning
A reversed Sun isn't so positive. People have been presenting false impressions to you for their own gain which has caused you to stray unknowingly from your path. Once you have realised this, you may experience a lack of clarity for a while as you heal from this betrayal and you may doubt yourself and your ability to make decisions and read peoples intentions. Don't rush things, take your time to build up your clarity so you can make the right decisions for yourself. You may experience or already be experiencing a decrease in life energy that is either related to your question or it is just happening. Don't try to force yourself out of this, especially in an unhealthy way, it will pass in its own time. Until then, up your protections and be on your guard, people will try to take advantage of you during this period. You are also experiencing or will experience sadness in regards to your situation or an event will happen that will cause sadness. This card can prepare you for it but how you deal with it is up to you.
