Crystal Wednesday - Do I Need Crystals To Be A Witch?

Hello all!! Today we're going to have a quick discussion about Crystals and Witchcraft!!


Just to preface, I think I have briefly touched on this before but I can't really remember, my brain is completely fried at the moment!!


So, without further ado, let's answer some questions....




Do I need crystals to be a Witch?

No. Crystals are NOT an essential part of Witchcraft, our ancestors managed without the plethora we have available to us today. 

It is also perfectly fine if you just want to collect crystals because they are pretty or you like the look of them!




Why don't some Witches use crystals?

There are several reasons, including:


- They don't resonate with Crystals

- Not everyone has space to dedicate to them

- Depending on the size, crystals are a choking hazard to pets and small children

- Some crystals are poisonous/toxic, either to the touch or in certain conditions e.g in water

- Crystals are easily misplaced/lost

- It can be overwhelming to remember a multitude of names and properties

- Sensory issues e.g raw Vs tumbled

- Crystals are somewhat expensive, depending on the size, availability and shop

- SHIPPING!!

- Not all crystals are ethically sourced




I don't use crystals that often. To be honest, most of the time I completely forget they are there! I keep mine a box so I don't lose them and more often than not, I forget where I've put the box! This doesn't make me less of a Witch, it just makes me a forgetful one! 

My collection is quite small compared to my mother's but that doesn't define our status as Witches. It doesn't matter if you have one crystal or 100 , they don't define your practice, unless you're a Crystal Witch of course!
