The Spring Equinox (Ostara) begins today! This means that the number of daylight hours and night hours are pretty much the same, hence the name Equinox. There will be another Equinox in September, but that's a separate post entirely....

Ostara is a festival that celebrates fertility, balance, manifestation, awakening and its namesake, the Goddess Ostara herself. It is an annual festival but the date changes from year year. Alternative spellings and names include:

- Oestar
- Ēostre (Old English) 
- Ēastro (Northumbrian) 
- Ôstara (Old High German)
- Āsteron (Old Saxon)
