Emporiblog - Spell Jars Continued
Hello all!! Some time ago I did a post on Spell Jars (link at the bottom) and I feel like it's time for a follow up!!
Now, the Spell Jars I covered in the first post were more on the traditional side, nowadays, Spell Jars don't have to be buried in gardens or fireplaces and can be used for a variety of purposes besides protection. The ingredients have somewhat changed as well and tend to look more like this 👇🏻 (picture from unsplash.com)
These smaller Jars can easily be placed around the home, in a car or given to others. Normally, Spell Jars are meant to last as long as possible but now, it is common to open, clean and reuse a Spell Jar, depending on the Jars original purpose.
So, let's explore why people recycle their Jars and what can be done with the contents.....
Why would someone reuse a Spell Jar?
There are a number of reasons, including:
- The Jar has served its purpose
- The Jar has become damaged or broken
- The magicks of the Jar need enhancing/topping up
How do I recycle ingredients?
There are a few steps to this so bare with me:
Step 1
You need to open your Jar. Undo any ribbons or rope and remove any wax. This is the tricky tedious bit so be careful and don't put it in the microwave as corks can contain bits of metal!! The Jar can then be cleansed and repurposed.
Step 2
To avoid mess, put some paper down to pour the contents on to. Now, separate the organic material, salt, herbs etc from the none organic material, nails, glass, crystals etc.
The none organic materials can be cleansed and reused, use caution.
Step 3
Once you've seperated your organic material, thank the ingredients and return them to the Earth!! But be warned! Salt can damage soil so as an optional step, seperate any salt from the herbs. If you've used fine grain salt, you can use a sieve to seperate, if you've used chunky salt, you can pick it out.
If your Jar has liquid in it, you may need to do extra research on how to dispose of/repurpose the Jar, depending on what liquid you used. If the Spell Jar was Baneful, you will definitely need to do research and that is another topic entirely!!
I think we'll leave this here!! Please note that you can also buy pre-made Spell Jars from other practitioners! The Banishing post is coming (I haven't forgotten!) but there is a lot of information to cover!
Blessings,
