Beltane

Hello all!! Today's post is about Beltane!!

Beltane is the Gaelic equivalent of May Day and is celebrated on the 1st of May in the Northern Hemisphere and on the 1st of November in the Southern Hemisphere and was historically observed in Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. By the 20th century, many Beltane traditions and celebrations had died out but, as with all of the festivals of old, a revival wasn't far away. Bonfires, May Pole dances and May Day Parades are now a common occurrence. Other names and spellings include:

- May Day
- Lรก Bealtaine  (Irish)
- Latha Bealltainn  (Scottish Gaelic)
- Laa Boaltinn/Boaldyn  (Manx)
- Beltain
- Beltine
- Beltany

There is also a Welsh version of this festival called Calan Mai
