Emporiblog - How To Make A Wand

Hello all!! Today, we're having a quick guide to wand making!!

First off, we'll quickly recap on the uses of Wands in Witchcraft....

Wands aren't like they are on TV. There's no dueling or lights and Spells coming out of the ends when we say a word and they are not mandatory! Instead, Wands are used to help focus and direct energy during Spell and Ritual work.

Now let's get onto the making!!

Step 1 - Go find a stick

If you have a park or woodland area near you, you're in for a treat! Search these areas until you find the perfect stick for you! (When you know, you know!). Make sure the stick wants to go with you and thank the area for providing the stick.

Please check local laws first on if you're allowed to take things from said area and make sure said stick is safe to handle e.g not poisonous.

Step 2 - Clean the stick

When you've found your stick, take it home and clean it, after all, you can never tell what's been done on the forest floor before you got there!

Taking the bark off is optional and is up to the preferance of the individual practitioner.

Once it's clean, you need to wait for the stick to dry. Pop it on a towel on the window ledge or by the fire or near a radiator.

Step 3 - Cleanse and decorate

When said stick is dry, you can begin to decorate it! But first, you must cleanse! I would recommend smoke, sound or Crystals for this. If you want to use water, do that in the cleaning stage.

Now that the stick is cleansed, it's decorating time! You can decorate it however you want, corresponding coloured ribbons, Crystals, charms and you can carve Sigils and Runes into the stick as well.

Or, you can leave the stick as it is it's completely up to you!

If you don't have any appropriate areas near you or you aren't allowed to take things from areas or you simply don't have the energy to do it, you can buy pre-made/customisable Wands online!!

I think we'll leave this here!!  We'll be doing our Full Moon/Eclipse post tomorrow so stay tuned for that!!

Blessings,
