Tarot Tuesday - Six of Swords
Hello all!! We're retuning on the Minor Arcana with the Six of Swords!!
The Six of Swords is associated with the element of Air and the planet Mercury (I've also seen Pluto and Saturn listed).
Pictured above...
The purpose of this section is to help you with your own interpretations.
In the card pictured above, we can see a skeleton rowing a coffin across a larg body of water. The coffin has six Swords stuck into its base. The body of water looks calm with a Moon just above the horizon. There are a few small stars in the sky with no clouds in sight.
Meaning
An upright Six of Swords is telling you that it is time to move on from whatever situation you are asking about, it has run its course and no longer serves a purpose to you. It tells of departure, either yours from your specific situation or to be on the lookout for a departure from someone either related to your situation or for a different event altogether. The Six of Swords is your que to leave the situation behind, you have done all you can but you need to put some distance between yourself and what has happened otherwise, you will only exhaust yourself. Do not waste your energy on something that needs to be put to rest, it may be difficult to walk away at first but it will be in everybody's best interests for you to distance yourself, regroup yourself and rebuild yourself. However, do not blindly walk away. There are lessons that your have learned from this that you should not ignore or keep ignoring because, ignoring these lessons will lead you to repeating the same patterns over and over again, accept and embrace these lessons so history will not repeat itself.
Reversed Meaning
A reversed Six of Swords shows that you are stuck in the past and clinging to things that are preventing you from moving on, this inturn, is causing you to return to the very troubles you were trying to escape from in the first place. It also shows that you are running away from your problems instead of facing them. This could come in the form of throwing yourself into your work and overworking yourself, an addiction e.g alcohol, drugs etc or just plain ignoring your problems and hoping they will go away (they won't!). All of this is causing you to feel trapped in your predicament. You need to take some time out, clear your head and face what you have been ignoring. Once you do so, things will begin to fall into place, it will be difficult at first but don't be afraid to ask for help, be it from friends, family or medical professionals (if this option is available to you). As the great Del Boy Trotter once said,
"Running away only wears out your shoes."
