Symbol Series - Witch's Knot

Hello all!! We're going back to our Symbol Series with the Witch's Knot!! (Picture from Shutterstock)

History

The Witch's Knot dates back to at least the Middle Ages and is representative of the Knot Magick that was practiced at the time. This symbol was often etched into and above doorways and is a mixture of a circle, combined with a Gaelic four cornered knot (4 interlocking vesica piscis).

Meanings

The Witch's Knot has many meanings, including:

- Protection from malevolent forces/Witches
- Binding
- Representing the 4 seasons
- Representing the 4 physical elements
- Knot Magick

Trivia

- The Witch's Knot is also known as the Witch Charm or Magick Knot

- The 4 interwoven vesica piscis are usually done in one continuous motion

- The circle can either go "through" the vesica piscis or can encircle the whole Knot

I think we'll leave this here!! I know this one is very short but Flora Friday posts are often very long so I find that the odd short post is quite refreshing!

Blessings,
