Emporiblog - Warding

Hello all!! Today's post has been a long time coming and we are going to talk about Warding!!

What is Warding?

Warding involves using something to create a barrier of energy that controls what energies can and cannot enter or leave a space or to protect a specific object or a person

How can a Ward control energies?

Depending on the purpose of the Ward and your preference, a Ward can:

- Allow energy to flow out but not in
- Seal something completely
- Let specific energies in and out and visa versa

What can be used as a Ward?

Technically, anything. The most common form of Warding is Casting A Circle, but that is usually just for protecting a sacred space and/or Spellwork related things. You can use most existing objects, Sigils/Symbols or you can make your own.

Using an object to Ward

Here is a step by step to creating a Warded object:

1 - Select object and what it is to be used for

2 - Cleanse said object, use your preferred method or which ever method is appropriate for your object

3 - Charge the object to its new purpose, you can do this with a Spell or by sitting with the object and giving it your energy (meditation or Reiki will work as well!), this is where you set your intention and the intention of the object

4 - Place your object somewhere appropriate

Your Warding object can be as simple or as complex as you like such as a small statue or a creation of your own e.g a pentagram made of sticks. You can also incorporate Sigils and Symbols into your Wards or use them as Wards themselves.

Once your Ward has been activated, you may find that it gains a sort of sentience. This is normal so don't worry! You will also need to treat a Ward with respect. It is doing something for you so you need to maintain this relationship by showing appreciation to your Ward/s and cleaning, cleansing and replenishing them at specific intervals (the occasional offering won't go amiss either!) and don't ignore your Ward, listen to what it tells you!

Of your Ward contains perishable things e.g herbs and food, it is a judgement call on when you replace and replenish it.

Wards can also be Baneful, but that's a separate post entirely...

I think we'll leave this here!! If I have missed anything please let me know!!

Blessings,
