Tarot Tuesday - King of Swords
The King of Swords is associated with the element of Air and the planet Uranus (I've also seen Saturn and Venus)

In the card pictured above, we can see a skeleton dressed in royal robes with a cloak and a crown. The King is also carrying a sword, very casually resting in on his shoulder. There are 7 butterflies around the King with one on the crown, one above the sword, one by the King's other shoulder, one in front of the King (that he appears to be looking at), one below that, one by the sleeve under the handle and the last is below the King's other hand and slightly downwards. There appears to be clouds in the background as well as 3 prominent stars, one near the top left, one near the top right and the other slightly below the top right star.
Meaning
The King of Swords is a card of mental clarity. It shows that you are intelligent with strong intellectual power but, you are humble and fair with it, you haven't let it go to your head. You are also an authority figure but you are a fair authority figure, you are not misusing your power to bully or undermine others however, you can come off a bit strict at times. It also shows that you are a truthful individual who strives for honesty. All of this may be misinterpreted as having "high standards"; there's nothing wrong with having high standards as long as they are fair and you don't look down on others. As long as you have mental clarity, your decisions will be fair.
Reversed Meaning
A reversed King of Swords shows that you are abusing your power and your position. You are controling and your air of authority has changed to that of a borderline dictatorship: it's your way or the highway. You will do what you can to keep your position, even if that means being dishonest: you are also seen as unapproachable and cold by those around you. You need to take a massive step back and relinquish control, you need to listen to others, even if you disagree with them, their points are still valid. Understand where you have gone wrong and actually make changes accordingly, your life and the lives of those around you will be a lot easier!
