Crystal Wednesday - Water Crystals

Hi guys,

Cat says the crystals hate her, lol. so I have decided to revive them, at least while she has put me in the driving seat.

I have decided that as we are featuring Water a lot this week, that I would cover some crystals that are associated with that element. Those that have been previously covered, I will include links to those posts, and try and get new crystal information up for you. We have also covered crystals that can and can't be cleansed with water, so I will link those just below...

Crystals that cannot go in water

Water ammendment

Yay, themed week!!

In crystal healing, the water element helps us with emotional healing, the collective unconscious, intuition, and being open to receiving. So any crystal that helps with these can be linked to the element of water.

Okay, so some crystals that are linked to the element of water (I won't cover all of them, just a selection) include:

  • Blue Lace Agate
  • Sodalite - post
  • Azurite
  • Aquamarine
  • Selenite - post
  • Purple Flourite
  • Blue Chalcedony
  • Chrysochola
  • Larimar
  • Abalone
  • Coral
  • Pearl - any colour
  • Moonstone - post
  • Turquoise
  • Blue Calcite
  • Labradorite
  • Amazonite

Let me know if you would like me to do more crystal posts again, and I'm sure we can find a way to incorporate them, even when I have handed the reins back to Cat.

The picture above is one of my pieces of amazonite, so that is one of the stones I am going to cover, the other is larimar.

Amazonite:

So, the science bit first!
Amazonite is a variety of potassium feldspar. It is polymorphic/orthoclase.
it's chemical formula is KAlSi3O8
Green stones were found in the Amazon river, from where it gets it's name. There are archaeological finds that show it was used in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, but it was not listed as a distinct mineral in it's own right until the 18th Century.
It is found in various forms all over the world. Countries it is found in are;
  • China
  • Libya
  • Mongolia
  • South Africa
  • Sweden
  • United States
  • Brazil

Healing properties:

Connected to the heart chakra and water (hence it's inclusion here!!), Amazonite means that it will help you to embrace a fluid and flexible approach to life.
It is a stone of hope and manifestation.
It helps you go with the flow over life's little speed bumps, it helps clear away doubts, fears and worries, and it fills the void left behind with positivity, optimism and hope.
It helps you open your heart and welcome change as a positive thing.

Larimar:

Larimar is a trade name for a very rare variety of blue pectolite (a silicate mineral) that is found only in one place in the Dominican Republic.
Pectolite is found in many locations, but Larimar has a unique collaboration with volcanic blue, substituting the calcium found in most Pectolites with Copper instead.
It's chemical formula is NaCa2Si3O8(OH)
It is in the Triclinic crystal system.

Healing properties:

Keywords with Larimar are escape, serenity, relaxation and calm.

It is a stone of the heart and third eye chakras, allowing you to see any emotional situation clearly.

Linked to the energies of both the sea and the sky, and allows a re-connection with nature, especially in women.

The stone exudes clarity, vitality, pleasure and a renewed sense of self control.

It also gives you a sense of equilibrium, suggesting that it may be beneficial in helping those with bi-polar disorders.

As always, speak to a professional before adding any alternative therapies into your health regimen.

I hope this has helped you a little, and that you liked me re-inserting crystals back into the week. As always, let us know below what you think.
