Hello all!! Our first Deity in the Deity Series is:

The Morrígan!!



Who is The Morrígan?

The Morrígan comes from Irish mythology and is a triple Goddess. Other names/spellings include:

- Great Queen
- Phantom Queen
- Morrígu 
- Morrígan
- Mór-Ríoghain 
- Anand 
- Mor Righ Anu

People who work with The Morrígan will also place An, Queen or Lady in front of the chosen name of the Goddess 

She is associated with:

- War
- Fate
- Death
- Knowledge
- Prophecy and Psychic abilities
- Shape shifting (one of her abilities)
- Victory 
- Protection
- Boundaries
- Justice 
- Magick 



Origins

As mentioned in the Lebor Gabála Érenn (The Book of Invasions), The Morrígan came from a tribe of Magickal peoples called the Tuatha Dé Danann who eventually ended up feuding with the existing Firbolg, another race of Magickal peoples. She is said to be the daughter of Ernmas and the wife of Dagda. Her siblings include 6 sisters: Ériu, Banba, Fódla, Badb, Nemain and Macha


When appearing as the Triple Goddess, she either appears as herself or in a shape shifted form or is accompanied by 2 of her sisters (the name's differ from source to source) becoming The 3 Morrígna

Offerings to The Morrígan include:

- Red Wine and Meat
- Red foods as a whole
- Mead
- Crow feathers
- Stormwater
- Irish food (preferably traditional)
- Milk
- Dark chocolate
- Black Coffee
-Dragon's Blood incense/oil
