Tarot Tuesday - Tarot In Spellwork
Hello all! Today we're going to talk about using Tarot in Spellwork!
Why should I use Tarot in Spellwork?
Just as adding crystals, herbs and elements to your spells can give them a boost, so can Tarot. This of course is optional and not a requirement for Spellwork
How do I select cards for my spell/ritual?
There are a couple of way to do this so I'll go through point by point.
The first thing is selecting a deck. To do that you can:
- Ask your guides/the entities you work with
- Use your intuition
- Select a deck purely based on the artwork/ theme
- Pendulum
Selecting cards
To select your cards, you can:
- Ask your guides/the entities you work with
- Use your intuition
- Pendulum (this could be time consuming if you go through all 78 cards individually)
- Shuffle the deck and see which card/s come out
- Look up cards that match the purpose of your spell (Google or a booklet/book)
Card Placement
There are a couple of ways to place Tarot cards for Spellwork but it really comes down to what you're comfortable with and the amount of space you have, which you have to take into account when you prepare your spell. Here are some ideas:
- Standing up. In the picture at the top, I propped my cards up because I had limited space, I was also using wax and didn't want to get any on my cards
- Flat. If you've got the space you can put your cards flat like you would in a normal reading. If you have several cards, you can also arrange them in a spread of your choice
- Under your spell. If you're making a jar spell or are using a candle in a holder, you can put a card under it (BEWARE OF WAX) I'd recommend printing out a card for that or letting the spell sit on it after wax has been applied if you're using wax
- In your spell. If you're going to do this, print out the cards on paper, especially if there's fire and/or liquids involved, it's not worth permanently damaging your actual cards
An Example
For the spell pictured at the top, I Googled cards that corresponded with my spell and intentions and made a list. I then selected 5 from that list as that was the number that felt right. Due to the limited space, I had to stand my cards up. I put my spell in front of them and let it sit surrounded by them for a while after the initial ritual
I think we'll leave this here! Tarot Tuesday will no longer be a weekly installment but if I come across something interesting and Tarot related, I will make a Tarot Tuesday post
Blessings,
