Emporiblog - January New Moon + Chinese New Year 2025

Hello all! We've got quite a bit happening all at once towards the end of the month so let's have a look (CHINESE NEW YEAR AND NEW MOON 29TH JANUARY)

This New Moon is in Aquarius ♒ and is the best time to visualise what you want and make it so. If you want to make plans but don't know how to, use this Moon to implement change. You may find that if you use a different means of approach, you can achieve your goals. New insight might find its way to you to help open the way but it may not come in the way you expect

Currently in retrograde, we have:

- Uranus 
- Jupiter 
- Mars
- Venus (Shadow)


Crystals

Here are some Crystals to work with during this New Moon:

- Moonstone
- Garnet
- Selenite
- Azurite
- Rhodochrosite
- Blue Topaz
- Chrysocolla
- Amethyst
- Hematite
- Moldavite
- Aquamarine

If you are drawn to any other Crystals during this time, use those too!!



Herbs/Flowers

Below are some Flowers and Herbs for this New Moon (if you don't have the actual plant, the corresponding incense/oil will be fine):

- Valerian
- Orchid
- Violet
- Rosemary
- Jack-in-the-pulpit
- Fennel
- Goldenrod
- Comfrey
- Gladiolus

This year's Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year brings us into the Year of the Snake. 

The Snake represents many things, including:

- Femininity 
- Darkness 
- Good luck 
- Rebirth 
- Regality 

Customs 

Some customs for the Lunar Year celebrations include:

- Chucheng. This is a very maticulous house clean that is said to banish bad luck (supposed to have taken place on the 27th of this New Year)

- Paper lanterns and other paper decorations 

- The colour red. Red is considered a lucky colour in China 

- Chunlian. These are spring couplets that are hung in/around the doorways 

- Hongbao. The giving of a red envelope with money in it from married/elder family members to children to ward off evil spirits

Ancestral Work (part 1 )

 Ancestral Communication and Work. Hi Guys, It's me again, as this is work that I have been actively doing, and Cat and I agreed that I would do this post for you. It seems to fit in well with the season. We have discussed this subject briefly in some other posts, such as Vivianite  (just use the search function and input ancestors or spirit work, and you will find the posts to read whichever ones shout at you, as there are too many mentions to put them in here). We discussed communication with spirits in a previous post but this is a lot more specific as it deals with our own flesh and blood. Earthing

To me, grounding is a spiritual thing, whereas earthing is a physical one. Although, both can be practiced together. Yes, I'm confused too. I have confused myself!! So, I will try and explain what I see as the difference. Our post on grounding is here . To me, grounding is a practice of getting rid of unwanted energy, it helps me when I feel anxious, overwhelmed or am overthinking. Yes, I go outside to do this quite often, but that is not a necessary practice. I can also meditate to achieve this   Grounding meditation on YouTube .
