Emporiblog - Cat Colours
Hello all! As you may have gathered, we are rather fond of cats so, after a trip down a proverbial rabbit hole, here is a culmination of what different colour cats mean to the craft!
There will be numerous photos of cats so beware of cuteness!
We'll be starting with....
Orange
Orange cats are associated with:
- Solar energy
- Happiness
- Leadership
- Cheerfulness
- Encouragement
Fun fact - Female orange cats are rare!
Black
Black cats are associated with:
- Protection
- Warding off negativity
- Security
- Banishing
- Intuition
Fun fact - Due to silly, baseless superstitions, black cats are less likely to get adopted than any other colour!
Calico/Tortoiseshell/Tortie and White
Due to confusion between the breeds and even more confusion with a subcategory specific to England, I'm putting these into one section, so here goes:
Calico:
- Relationships
- Prosperity
- Fortune
Tortoiseshell/Tortie and White
- Psychic abilities
- Future sight
- Fortune
- Protection at sea
Fun fact - In the UK, Tortoiseshell cats can have white patches hence the category, Tortie and White! Tortoiseshell males are also extremely rare and are born sterile.
White
(This is the cat across the street, I don't know what his name is but I call him fluffy marshmallow)
White cats are associated with:
- Boosting psychic powers
- Happiness
- Good luck
Fun fact - White cats with blue eyes are most likely completely deaf and white cats with one eye blue from heterochromia are likely to be deaf on the side with the blue eye!
Two Tone
Two Tone cats are associated with:
- Warding of evil
- Good luck
Fun fact - Two Tone cats can have multitude of different colour combinations and markings!
Siamese
Siamese cats are associated with:
- Fortune
- Good luck
- Warding off evil
Fun fact - Siamese cats are more likely to have gastrointestinal issues than other cats!
Gray
Gray cats are associated with:
- Hope
- Support
- Guidance
- Bringing rain
- Beauty
- Harvest
- Good luck
Fun fact - Gray cats are also sometimes referred to as blue!
Brown
Brown cats are associated with:
- Peace
- Grounding
- Love
- Companionship
Fun fact - Pure brown cats are extremely rare! Coat colour names include chocolate and cinnamon.
