Emporiblog - Plant Wards

Hello all!! I've been meaning to do this post for a while so let's jump in! This is going to be a long one so take notes as you go!

This is the follow up to our Water Wards post...

What is a plant ward?

A plant ward is, quite simply, a ward that is a plant

What can be a plant ward?

Potentially, any house plant or plant on your property can become a plant ward

How do I make a plant ward?

I'm glad you asked! Here's a little guide to creating a plant ward! (This is not the only way to do this, you can adapt it to your requirements)

For houseplants or potted plants:

1 - Select your plant, it can be any houseplant you desire (if you have a common household pet please check our PET SAFETY posts) and decide where your plant is going to go and cleanse that area. Also, put a bit of thought into what you want your ward to do

2 - Begin preparations. Cleanse your plant and cleanse your casting area. If you cast circles, place your plant in the circle but make sure there's room within the circle for step 3

3 - Petition your purpose. This is where you decide what you want your ward to do e.g protection, transmuting energy etc. Write your petition on a piece of paper and make sure you tether the petition to the plant. Activate your petition (can be done in similar ways to our Sigil Activations  ) Now, do one of the following:

Burn the paper in a fire safe dish. While the paper is burning, use the energy of the flames as a conduit to make the energies between the petition and the plant bond. Then mix the ashes into the soil

If you can't burn, write on the paper with non toxic ink or any non toxic writing apperatus. When you've done that, fold the paper up until it's really small then, hold the petition in one hand and place your other hand on your plant. Visualise the energies between the plant and petition bonding. Do for as long as you feel necessary then bury the petition in the soil

4 - Water your plant and place your plant in your desired place

Bonus - paint/draw sigils and runes on the plant pot for extra potency!

For in the ground outdoor plants:

Obviously, these plants are already in the ground and can't easily be moved so some improvising may be needed here

1 - Pretty much the same as above. If your desired plant is already in the ground, clean the area around it and cleanse the area and plant. If you need to plant it, decide where it's going then plant, clean and cleanse. Cast a circle around the plant if you cast circles (DO NOT USE SALT)

2 - Petition time. Like the above steps: decide on your petition, tether it, activate it.

If you're burning your petition, burn the paper in a fire safe dish. While the paper is burning, use the energy of the flames as a conduit to make the energies between the petition and the plant bond. Then mix the ashes into the soil as close to the base of the plant as you can

If you're burying it, write on the paper with a non toxic writing apperatus, fold the paper up until it's really small then, hold the petition in one hand and place your other hand on your plant. Visualise the energies between the plant and petition bonding. Do for as long as you feel necessary then bury the petition in the soil as close to the base as possible

4 - Water your plant

Bonus - draw corresponding sigils and runes into the soil or on stones and place them near the plant

Maintenance

You'll need to maintain your plant ward, which is basic plant care; water it, replenish the soil, repot it (if applicable) trim it (if applicable) and don't forget to give offering to it, talk to it, thank it, redo the sigils and runes etc

What happens if my plant ward dies?

If you've ruled out the mundane (wrong soil, wrong amount of water, not enough light, end of natural life span etc) then that means that your ward has done it's job to the best of it's ability and can do no more. If it cannot be saved, then thank it, cleanse it and return it to the earth. Then, cleanse and banish and repeat the plant ward process if you want to

As always PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY

I think that covers everything! Here are some other posts if you're up for a bit more reading:

If I've gotten something wrong or if there's something you'd like to add, let me know!

Blessings,
